Glow Plug Analyser OTI271 can be used to make fast diagnosis of glow plug failure or degradation without the need to disassemble the glow plug from the engine. It is suitable for use on any 12 Volt DC vehicle system. The 6 LEDs on the panel indicate the status of the glow plug under test and also whether the vehicle battery contains enough charge to power glow plug.
Operation instruction
1.Disconnect leads/busbar from the glow plugs to be tested.
2.Connect the red clip of the instrument to the positive(+) battery terminal and the black clip to an earth point on the engine.
3.Press the test probe (the metal part) onto the glow plug terminal.
4.Observe which one of the LEDs is illuminated and see below for diagnosis.
Test Result
1)exclamation mark --- Defective (short circuit) glow plug.
2)>16A --- Highter than 16A in 3 seconds or less = OK
Higher than 16A but in more than 3 seconds= fault
3)OK --- Glow plug is OK.
4)<7A--- Defective (high resistance) glow plug.
5)scissor --- Defective (open circuit) glow plug.
6)< 10.5V --- Vehicle battery is low so that the Glow Plug Analyser will not function correctly.
